How does the Japanese school system work?

Question by : How does the Japanese school system work?
Could someone please explain the grading system, extracurricular activities, timetables, classes and what time school starts and ends?
I know that students attend juku or cram schools and that you have to take exams to enter high school.
I need this for a manga I'm making, which probably won't be out for a few years.
